The Pressure to Make Diamonds
Second time's more than charm
Thaschara VanDyke first approached me in Summer 2015 when she was doing both Public Relations and Fashion Blogging. I initially provided some design and branding services for Vandie B, but Thaschara didn't feel it was right. VanDyke had some major turn of events and decided she was really going to buckle down, take her time and re-introduce herself as the focused, PR-Maven she truly is.
In January 2016, we began working more closely to develop her brand as it is today. Before visual development, I gave her honest feedback as to what she just came from with Vandie B, assessed her current needs, and provided her with some service options.
Ultimately - given all that she has gone through - I wanted to capture her strength and resilience, which is why I chose the diamond as her mark. In the logotype choice, I wanted to capture timeless yet modern and relevant, because that is the energy she exudes both in her style and in her work. From there, the logo and visual identity was finalized by March 2016 and so began the planning of the rollout for her website, which launched October 2016.
